Tips for Flood-Related Claims
- Contents claim: Please make a list of the items that are flood damaged within the claim form, including plenty of photos and/or a video showing the damage and the individual damaged items.
- Motor vehicle claim: If your vehicle has been submerged or partially submerged in flood water, please do not try to start or drive the vehicle. There may be silt and/or debris in the engine or water damaged electrics along with potential contamination issues. Please arrange for your vehicle to be towed to your local repairer to inspect and identify any possible damage as soon as possible.
- Personal or commercial property claims: Treat all flood water as contaminated. You can lift carpet and underlay (providing it’s safe to do so) and please wear protective clothing such as gloves, masks and appropriate waterproof footwear. Take plenty of detailed photos and move the contaminated items outside.
- All claims: Please do not dispose of any items as an Assessor or Loss Adjustor may need to view these.
Safety Guidelines

- If it is safe to do so, place items off the ground and above any water line and salvage any items that might be able to be repaired
